Langdale Horseshoe

Introduction
Situated at the head of Great Langdale between Mickleden and Oxendale, Bowfell is the first of the peaks in this area. Compared to the other great peaks here I would say that Bowfell is a relatively easy climb by comparison. The views from the climb and the summit, however, are still tremendous and very worthwhile.

The Accommodation
We stayed at the Back-packers at Ambleside in Cumbria. This is a very pleasant Hostel within in the heart of the Lake District ideal for the Langdales. It offers excellent facilities of a very reasonable standard at a very reasonable price including Bunks with Duvet's, a fully furnished kitchen and dining area, lounge and drying facilities!

Eating and Drinking
Ambleside is well served with numerous pubs and restaurants ranging from Chinese, Indian, Italian and English - including several ‘chippies’. Most of the pubs offer bar meals and are reasonably priced.
